“The Supposed Prize”

Caught between opposing sides
A woman’s heart is the supposed prize
Yet she has already made her choice
She is with whom she loves the most
This has not been taken very well
Many make her life a living hell
Her lover is not liked by the others
Blood is spilled between brothers
Now outcasted by family and friends
Over a romance that will never end
A romance that will bear a child
From nights of passion running wild
Alas, violence will not be a stranger
Father’s life is in constant danger
And every night, while the child sleeps
In the darkness, the mother will weep
As in her heart, she will silently pray
That the father will be safe one day
That all the fighting will come to an end
Their safety he will not have to defend
