"Electronic Cocoon"

On a crowded bus
Yet still a lonely man
Everyone is encased
In an electronic cocoon
Created by cell phones
Enforced by mp3 players
Lost in an artificial reality
Unaware of their surroundings
Of the small child crying
Of the drunk sleeping away
Of the accident to the left
Of anything outside their cocoon
A bus full of lonely butterflies
No chatter amongst them
No friendly exchanges made
Just each butterfly sitting
Waiting to get to their stop
A sad view of what we've become
A society connected to the world
Yet disconnected from each other
A society that knows information
About a place they will never visit
Alas they don't even know anything
About their own next door neighbor
Who is totally lost and separated
In their own electronic cocoon

"The Tequila Worm"

I went down to the creek
After a very rough work week
I was handed a case of Bass
From my best friend in the past
We sat down on an old dock
Downing shot after shot
Talking about the past for awhile
As we drank tequila from a vile
We were there to around midnight
Even drinking a case of Coors Light
We wanted to drink even more
But we couldn't find an open store
Luckily, he knew of a good bar
That was down the road not very far
Since never of us were shit faced
We made our way over to the place
We walked into the bar and sat down
We did shots of Jose every round
After awhile, everything was a blur
And my speech was quite slurred
I woke up that morning a mess
And found myself in a wedding dress
I started to wonder what I have done
When the lady next to me weighed a ton
I quickly grabbed my shirt and slacks
And made my exit through the back
I ran all the way to my front door
Collapsing onto my living room floor
However, my stomach begin to revolt
To the bathroom I ran like a lighting bolt
I spent the next two or three hours
Puking my guts out in the shower
I vowed right then I will not drink again
Not even when hanging on the weekends
I was giving it all up and going dry
Kissing my alcoholic way goodbye
Within a month, my plans quickly changed
Sitting on my front porch with a Budweiser can
Hoping that something would end my life
For that one ton woman is my loving wife
To those who do read this tragic anecdote
There is a moral you should make note
The one thing from this you should learn
Is never eat the fucking tequila worm

"Rally"

Calling the boys and the men
The faithful and condemned
The junkies and the drunks
The rebels and the punks
The tyrants are going down
Anarchy is coming to town
Release the rage in your heart
And fight or be torn apart
Rally the poets and the dreamers
The dealers and the schemers
Rally anyone who hears this voice
To stand up and make a choice
Been pushed around for too long
To the people these streets belong
Our voices will no longer be quiet
As we take them back in a riot
Marching into the cold night
Willing to sacrifice our life
To end it all with bloody hands
So peace returns to this land

11/10/09 Thougths

1) Is it normal to start another project when you so want to finish one you started first? I'm at the halfway point of one novel, but in my head, ideas for another one run around all day. I do write them down, but sometimes, it's frustrating. I want to finish the one first, then go on the other one.

2) For the record, Coke is way better than Pepsi. Come on! Crown and Coke. Jack and Coke. Name one drink where they use Pepsi?

3) I love whiskey. Proof? See #2.

4) Yes, it was a rough day. How rough? See #3.

5) Family. You love them, you hate them, and some days, you want to beat them senseless with a bat. Ah well, you only have one family, so make the most of them.

Random Thought

Well, today was a crappy day until I went on my lunch break. I got my lunch out of the fridge and sat down. As I opened my lunch, I found a frog in my chef’s salad. I gagged at first, but fought the urge to puke. As I tried to stick it with my fork, it talked.
“Hey, what are you doing? You can’t poke me with your fork,” the frog croaked at me.
“You are sleeping in my lunch, the only food I brought today. You ruined my salad, that’s why,” I snap back.
“I’ll make it up to me. I know the meaning of life.”
It’s not normal to find a frog in your salad. I believed him, so I agreed. It almost told me the meaning of life. Before it could, a monkey came over and ate it.
"Why did you do that, monkey?"
The monkey replied, "What's the point of living if you know the meaning of life?"

“Abstract Views”

Swimming in a sea of manufactured silicon
An “. exe” lost amongst a terabyte of code
The match to ignite the flames of change
Was declared unsafe by the water plant
A crying mother heard through a transmitter
Vocal cords are now the dodo bird of evolution
The only truths are broadcast via satellite
Written words are declared a complete heresy
Music is classified by only what the radio plays
The orchestra was arrested for preaching anarchy
The sounds of nature is now muted for distracting
The mindless drones marching to the tune of horns
Our dreams are produced in a Hollywood studio
And being molded by public views and surveys
Imaginations are now expressed through a joystick
Suicide is to unplug the one-eyed demon and think
The land of radicals is now controlled by law and order
Anarchy is now conveniently sold over the counter
Yet society has a five-day waiting limit on chaos
Break free of thy chains of wires and microchips
Open thy eyes and see the world for what it truly is
Free thy mind and wipe out the virus called the media
The real world is out there, join it while you still can

“The Great Novel Life”

My mind is my paper
My imagination is my pen
My decisions are chapters
In the great novel called life
However, life is truly not a book
It is a long and enduring journey
That begins from the moment of birth
And ends when we refuse to carry on
What happens on this mysterious journey
Is totally up to you, so choose wisely
For life doesn't make you who you are
You make life what you want it to be
